Windmill Aeration System for Decades
Its been almost 20 Years since I installed my first Koenders Windmill - It has worked great and we have only needed to replace the bearings once. With the new generation of
windmill aeration system that you are now making I have decided to upgrade to the new compressor. We get a lot of wind hear in High River, Alberta and this windmill has kept our dugout clean and algae free for literally decades. We have a hobby tree farm and the clean water is used to irrigate our trees.
Thanks again for making such a great product.

Koenders Windmill Survives 3 Hurricanes in 14 Months
My Koenders Windmill has been so reliable and sturdy that I just bought another one for my Farm in Virginia. In recent years, my Koenders Windmill that I have installed in Jupiter, Florida survived 3 hurricanes in a 14 month period - Hurricane Francis, Hurricane Gene and Hurricane Wilma.
We luckily had concreted the windmill in the ground with the ground stakes that were supplied by Koenders. This windmill is not only sturdy, well built and strong but It also has done an excellent job of keeping my pond clean and
algae free.
I am looking forward to installing your
dual diaphragm windmill aeration model in my pond in Virginia which is approximately 2 acres and needs some help in getting rid of the scum and algae that has been growing due to the lack of aeration.
Thanks,

Koenders Customer Comments.
Doug,
Thanks for the recent shipment of air stones and air line.
I put up my
Koenders Windmill Aeration System in the summer of 2004. My pond is about 1 and 3/4 acres in size and 15 feet deep and located on 8 acres.
I was looking at different methods of aerating my pond. In 2002 I had a big
winter fish kill and decided I needed to do something to prevent this in the future.
I went with your Koenders Windmill due to the ease of operation and low maintenance. I originally put in one air stone and added a second stone this summer.
The Koenders Windmill has done a great job in aerating the pond. I have not had any further fish kill and it has also helped in keeping the algie down, plus it looks great and adds to the overall view of my property.
Thanks again for the help

Koenders Windmills for Lake Aeration
Many of our Koenders customers have homes on larger lakes and they happen to have water front in an area of the lake that does not have much water circulation. These water front owners install one of our windmill aeration systems at the side of the lake and implement a few air stone diffusers in the water.
Results seem to be promising - it helps circulate the water in these otherwise
stagnant water environments and the addition aeration helps reduce levels of algae, weeds and green moss that is more predominate in poor water circulation areas.
Koenders Uni-pole is quite popular in the more modern home environments where the tradition tri-pod windmill base is preferred for the customers who are looking for a older looking windmill aeration system.
Innovative and Forward thinking Municipalities are Choosing Koenders Windmills
Environmentally concerned municipalities are choosing Koenders Windmill Aeration System to help keep their ponds healthy and clean.
Windmill pond aeration is an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to the traditional methods of keeping ponds looking clean which is by the use of pond chemical treatments.
Its also a much less costly alternative which surprises many municipal council members who are always looking for ways to save tax payer money. Just over the last two weeks Greenfield, Indiana, Brown City Michigan and Town of Yarmouth, Mass. have all bought Koenders Windmills to help keep their municipal ponds clean.
Municipal water reservoirs and sewage lagoons are other areas that municipalities are deploying the Koenders Windmills to help aerate the water.
Another benefit to the pond windmill aeration systems are the fact the cost of operation is virtually ZERO. Once deployed they are built to last decades with periodic maintenance intervals that are several years apart.
Koenders Windmills Inc. have introduced a new product line especially for local governments called the
Koenders Uni-Pole to ensure that no one can climb up the towers.
Reducing Pond Chemical Costs at Golf Courses
Golf courses are a group of customers that are starting to use windmills to aerate their ponds in order to keep them looking healthy and clean. Instead of using the traditional approach of treating their ponds with thousands of dollars per/yr worth of pond chemicals,
windmill aeration is acting as a more cost effective and sustainable alternative.
Another benefit of windmill pond aeration is that it increases the circulation of the
golf course pond water which cuts down on the amount of mosquitoes that can lay their larvae on the pond surface. With
West Nile Virus being an major concern, pond owners are encouraged to keep their ponds clean and well circulated.
A typical golf course will spend anywhere from $4,000 - $ 8,000 per/yr on pond chemicals. Taking this annual budget and investing it into Koenders Windmills pond aeration equipment the pay back is immediate. There is practically no maintenance or ongoing operational costs to these systems. So after the first year, the golf course is in a savings position and now have a more environmentally friendly approach to keeping their ponds healthy and clean.
Koenders Windmills manufacture some of the most innovative and cost effective windmill aeration systems in the world.
Koenders Windmill Water Pumps
Many people complain about the challenges they have in keeping their ponds filled with water.
If this is an issue that you have then Koenders has two water pumping solutions that are ideal and they do not require any electricity for they run off the same windmill that aerates your pond.
The Koenders VT 6 is a well water pump that can pump up to 4 gallons per/minute of water from a shallow well.
The Koenders SW16 pond pump also pumps up to 4 gallons per/minute and is used for a number of applications.
- This summer we have had a lot of customers buy this water pump and place it in a near-by river or creek - it then pumps water up from the creek and into their pond. With shallow creeks - you can dig a bowl area that will fill up and then place the water pump in this area.
- Koenders customers use the SW16 to pump water up from the pond and into holding tanks for cattle to drink from and for crop irrigation.
The Koenders water pumps come with a 3 yr are only have 3 moving parts so the reliability is extremely high. In addition, they are very cost effective, one of the least expensive windmill water pumping solution on the market.
For less than $2000.00 you get a windmill, a pond aeration system and a water pump along with an industry leading warranty program.
For deeper wells there is also a pumping method called the AIR-LIFT method - view the details of this method by clicking onto our
Koenders Water Pumps page.
Avoiding Algae Growth
Pond Algae and moss is one of a pond owner's worst nightmares. Algae usually becomes noticeable in the warmer months of the year when the sun light is at its brightest and temperatures at their hottest.
Surface algae is the most common form of algae and can bloom multiple times a year. We are always telling pond owners that instead of treating algae in a reactive manner by using toxic pond chemicals to eliminate it. Consider the preventative approach to algae control - windmill pond aeration.
Treating algae with chemicals simply results in killing it off - it does not go , it sinks to the bottom and multiplies your pond problems; depletes the oxygen in the water and adds to the organic matter that forth coming algae feeds on.
Aeration can reduce the amount and chances of getting algae blooms by as much as 85%. Koenders Windmills have been in business for almost 20 years and has over 40,000 customers world wide who have chosen our windmill aeration systems over the pond treatment and chemical approach to maintaining a healthy clean pond. By aerating your pond on a consistent and ongoing basis you burn off excess nutrients and organic matter that algae thrives on.
Farmers were the key customer segment that initially embraced the windmill pond aeration systems decades ago. They wanted a solution that kept their ponds clean and free of toxic blue green algae so that when their cattle drank from the water they would not get sick. Government research and studies pointed to aeration as a solution for their needs.
Pond Aeration Instead of Chemicals
Pond owners who have really bad algae problems seem to choose pond chemicals over a more environmentally friendly alternative - pond aeration.
Perhaps we need to consider the affects of treating our ponds with chemicals. Sure, it may get rid of the algae on the surface of the pond and have positive short term affects but one must look at the long term impact that the treatment of chemicals can have on a pond. Once the algae is treated, it dies off and sinks to the bottom, in order to decompose it requires oxygen and so a sudden kill off of algae can have a dramatic reduction in oxygen levels of your pond, affecting fish and other aquatic wildlife and vegetation.
This decomposing algae also infuses the pond water with additional organic matter in which new blooms of algae thrive - thus, creating a unwanted cycle of algae growth and treatment leading to the deterioration of pond water quality.
A more cost effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to preventing and treating algae is to implement a
pond aeration system.
Koenders Windmills have been supplying pond owners with reliable and extremely effective aeration systems for almost 20 Years. The windmills generate air and compress it into the pond water by utilizing the power of the wind. No operational costs are incurred.
