Municipalities Are Discovering the Benefits of Pond Aeration
More and more municipalities in North America are discovering the benefits of pond aeration. Traditionally, local governments would spend thousands of dollars per/year on various chemical treatments for their local ponds and water reservoirs. They are now discovering the benefits of water aeration.
In many cases ponds and water reservoirs take in excess nutrients and pollutants from local rivers and run offs. Chemical traces such as manganese and iron are commonly found in most ponds. These chemicals can distort the color and taste of the water.
To solve this important issue the most effective solution is to aerate the water by pumping oxygen into the public waters. Windmills are proving to be the most cost effective solution for this and are now the most popular water aeration solution in the world. Thousands of them are being installed throughout North America every year to help keep public and private ponds clean.
One of the reasons for the rise in popularity of the windmill aeration systems is the fact that they are driven by the wind. There are no fuel or electrical bills to pump the air into the water. The other key benefit seems to be the reliability and lack of human intervention needed to run these aeration devices. Once they are installed they are pretty well self-operational.
